Peace of Mind Emporium opened on Route 4 East in Rutland Vermont on July 4, 1994. The idea for Peace of Mind Emporium was born from a literal vision, the storefront being replicated in as close to detail as possible to that vision that occurred on February 12, 1993,...a place for people who were stressed, were going through a life or health crisis, or had a friend or family member experiencing such and needed information and resources to help cope or understand. It would be a place that would feel safe and comforting, spacious, with lots of natural light, music, chimes, and the lovely sound of water. Nurses would offer professional support and counsel to those requesting it.
Today we can say we are a holistic store, resource and educational center. We offer information, products and services on the mind-body-spirit connection, health and life challenges, stress reduction, spirituality, and uplifting, inspirational gifts. We are staffed by professional nurses with a wealth of experience in areas such as cancer, pediatrics, hospice, chemical dependency, maternal-child health, teaching, research, and management. Our teaching staff brings a wide array of knowledge and are chosen very carefully to provide the best information for our customers. Our massage therapists have received rave reviews from many customers who feel their stress just melt away after a massage.
The upper level of our building houses office space and our lovely "Breathing Space." Customers are invited to rest, read, meditate, pray or just "be" in this area. There is a superb view of the mountains west of Rutland. This loft may be used for small support meetings and healing or prayer groups. The lower level includes our "Solarium" --- our classroom-workshop space, and our Massage Therapy Services with private, cozy and well-heated massage rooms. Customers may choose their own CD to be played during their one-hour massage. Workshops and massages are offered seven days a week and some evenings. Two rooms have also been designated for counseling and care by professional holistic health practitioners. It is our goal to bring holistic health services to our customers. We now have the space to meet those needs. All areas of the building are handicapped accessible with the exception of the "Breathing Space" loft.
Outdoors, the Peace Gardens are lovingly tended by Master Gardener Susan Simon and are being improved each season. Our large paved parking areas are easily accessed by all size vehicles. Our location on busy Route 4 is only eight miles from the Killington Resort Access Road.
